Transparency about our use of artificial intelligence

1. Why this page exists
Our Terms of Service state that some sections of the site may include text generated or assisted by artificial intelligence, and that we flag this directly where the text appears. This page explains what we mean by that, which sections are covered today, how we actually work, and who to contact about errors.
2. What we mean by "generated" or "assisted" by AI
We use two different phrasings, deliberately:
- "Includes text generated or edited with generative AI" — used when we know, because it is documented in our own files, that a piece of content was produced by a dedicated AI pipeline.
- "May include text generated or assisted by generative AI" — used when some of our editorial pipelines make use of AI, but the individual published items do not carry a verifiable per-file origin. In these cases we are not claiming the text was AI-generated: we still flag the possibility, out of caution and transparency toward readers.
This distinction between an established fact and a precautionary choice is intentional: we would rather over-disclose than under-disclose, but we also do not want to claim an origin we cannot prove.
3. Sections covered today

The badge shown next to Galateo content indicates the "AI – unverified" status: the text has a documented AI origin but has not yet gone through a substantial human editorial review.
4. What is not (yet) covered
- Destination comparisons. We do not have a documented AI pipeline producing this text; without evidence of origin, we do not add a note that would assert something we do not know.
- Points of interest (POI) descriptions. These are part of separate, ongoing work that first requires a provenance inventory of the underlying data.
The absence of a note is not a guarantee that a text was written by a person: it only means that, today, we do not have sufficient evidence to label it either way.
5. How we actually work
Some of our editorial pipelines (for example, the one behind Galateo content) use generative AI models to produce a first draft, followed by automated checks and, where indicated, human review. We do not list specific vendors or models here: for a large part of the site's older content we do not have technical records sufficient to prove which tool, if any, was used, and we would rather not make claims we cannot verify.
Not all content on the site has gone through substantial human editorial review. Where this has happened in a documented way, we indicate it through the reliability badge; otherwise, the default badge remains "AI – unverified", or, for sections without a badge, the general note from section 2 applies.
6. An AI note and a reliability level are two different things
The transparency note says something about the text's origin. The reliability badge, where present, says something about its review status:
- 🤖 AI – unverified: content with a documented AI origin, not yet substantially reviewed by a person.
- 👁️ Reviewed: reviewed by collaborators, verification still in progress.
- ✅ Verified: full human review by an editor or subject-matter expert, with sources cited.
A text without a transparency note does not automatically carry a "Verified" badge: it only means we do not have a documented AI origin for that text.
7. Reporting an error
Next to the text in the "More Info" panel you'll find a report button that sends your note directly to our editorial team, with a reference to the specific content. For the Galateo section, and for any other report, you can write to us at info@mindthejourney.com.
8. Limits
This page describes our current process, which we update progressively together with the rest of the site. It does not guarantee the accuracy of individual content items and does not replace official sources for important travel decisions (health, safety, documents, customs). Publishing this page, by itself, is not a statement that every piece of content on the site has undergone qualified editorial review: where such review is not documented, the precautionary note from section 2 applies.
